43rd Plenary Meeting 2010
September 12th to 15th, Darmstadt (Germany)

Subgroups

The ICFG consists of subgroups, each active in a particular sub-division of the main fields of interest.
Themes include the most relevant and innovative aspects of cold forging processes related to materials, lubrication,
dies, design, processes and numerical simulation.

Currently there are three active Subgroups:

• Tool Life and Tool Quality

Influences of surface finishing on tool life & quality, surface topography before and after surface finishing,
technologies for surface finishing, fatigue. The subgroup collects and disseminates facts about technologies and strategies
regarding tool design, tool manufacturing and tool life management.

• Process Simulation

Application of numerical simulation tools, calibration thanks to reliable input data, recent developments
in commercial software, limitations of current models.

• Cold Forging 2050

Developing a vision of the future of cold forging technology against the background of current trends like electric cars.
